The darkside of ham radio - local amateur radio repeaters that may get territorial

The darkside of ham radio - amateur ham operators using a "shared" repeater often get territorial.

when hams that use a repeater wrongly believe they own the repeater, like the only device they have is that baofeng

Good video and very true.... I am new to two meters and I find the people in my area to be rather clickish. I have had a few conversations but mostly I get no responses.  73 - K8LMC

We had a few people doing this on our repeater. I asked them to stop and thay told me where to go. I turned off the repeater for 15mins and turned it back on. then keyed up and told them im the owner of the repeater. boy did they act nice after that. We are the only repeater in our area for 60 miles.

It is hard being a female ham. The guys (not all) think that they know more than you do. Ran into a few "repeater cops" too(think they own something more than baofeng). All in all hams are good people. I am thankful that my hubby was my Elmer. Take care
